Just another 20 something girly who wants to travel affordably and navigate the world with an autoimmune disease. Hey, I’m Sara!
I love to travel, and I know I know… who doesn’t? Wouldn’t it be great if we could all just travel and not have to work and life was just rainbows and butterflies? Unfortunately, that is not how this life works (for most of us at least)… so I am hoping I can help those of you who want to travel, but just might need that extra push, or an itinerary for someone on a budget, and even maybe help those of you who may have an autoimmune disease like I do.
I am sure this blog will eb and flow as I travel more and as time goes on. My current vision is to post about past trips I’ve been on and include itineraries, packing lists, budgets, pre-trip tips, and stuff I wish I would have known beforehand, and hopefully some pretty pictures to help those like me who are visual learners 🙂
Now onto the serious stuff 😉 In December 2022 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. According to John Hopkins Medicine, autoimmune disease affects 23.5 million Americans, and nearly 80 percent of those are women (lucky us). After a few months of being in denial, I decided it was time to do some research. I dove deep into podcasts, blogs, health articles, and anything that would help me learn more. I love reading blog posts about other peoples travels, but I realized once I was diagnosed there aren’t a whole lot of bloggers who discuss what it’s like to travel with an autoimmune disease. So, if my posts help just at least one person, I will feel like I contributed to helping out that large percentage of people who are affected with an autoimmune disease everyday.
3 weeks from the day I am writing this, I will be on an airplane to Malaysia, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand for 60 days. This will be fun to write about, it will be kind of a diary of sorts. I will write about what we have planned before the trip and I will be able to write in real time during the trip as well, then do a recap once we leave each city.
*Disclaimer* I wrote this post back in February 2024 with every intention of writing and posting during my trip. Clearly, that did not happen..oops
Of all the things you buy, only travel makes you richer ✈️
